My name is Ryan Ninemire, and I am a nine year old hockey goalie in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I am a straight A student as well as a full-time athlete. I am trying to pay for my travel hockey season this Fall in the Dallas Stars Travel Hockey League and need your help.
From the first time Coach Riemer asked if anyone wanted to play goalie, I knew this was my position. After that I quit gymnastics, which I was really good at, to concentrate on being a goalie . Although my favorite goalies in the NHL are Pekka Rinne and Henrik Lundqvist, meeting Kari Leighton let me know this was my position. He took the time to talk to me and my dad and gave me the confidence to know that, with hard work, I could be a great goalie.
In travel hockey; my association dues, club fees, tournament fees, and uniform cost is over $7,000 and this is before travel expenses and all of my gear.
I know though that travel hockey help me in many ways including:
1. It will get me more ice time
2. It will let me face higher quality shots
3. It will let me get coached by the best coaches in the area
4. It will be the beginning of year round hockey and hopefully help get me a scholarship to Boston College or Miami on my way to the NHL
My parents have a rule that they will pay for 50% of any sport my sister and I compete in, but we have to cover the rest. I have been mowing yards in the neighborhood, but I am still not near my goal.
Thank you for reading my story, your interest and support.
